How do I book a telemedicine appointment?

  • 01

I go to my local Primary Care Unit.

  • 02

The trained EDIT doctor will check whether there is an available medical specialty and a consulting doctor required for my health issue. If deemed necessary, the doctor will schedule an appointment with a supporting hospital that has a telemedicine station.

  • 03

The doctor must then inform me about the legal framework governing the operation of EDIT, namely that it is a service providing medical advice from the specialized consulting doctor to the attending doctor. The doctor must also give me the patient consent form to read and sign.

  • 04

The attending physician makes the appointment, which can take place immediately or at a subsequent examination depending on availability.

The procedure on the day of the exam

  • 01

    Arrival and identification

The patient arrives at the Doctor-Patient Station designated by the Health Center in his area and identifies himself with his AMKA and an identity document

  • 02

    Reception by the station doctor

The doctor records the reason for the visit and takes basic measurements — blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen

  • 03

    Connection to the Doctor-Consultant Station

The station doctor is connected via telemedicine to the consultant physician. The two doctors communicate directly during the examination.

  • 04

Examination with the cooperation of two doctors

The consultant physician evaluates the data in real time and guides, where necessary, the use of specialized equipment — e.g. digital stethoscope, dermatoscope

  • 05

    Integration

The decisions and instructions end up with the station’s doctor, who is responsible for implementing them and informing the patient

How long does a session last?

  • 15 to 45 minutes

A typical telemedicine session lasts 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the complexity of the case.

What happens after the exam?

  • The treating physician gives the treatment or prescription that resulted from the consultation with the consulting physician.

  • The attending physician arranges for referral to a specialist or hospital if the incident requires further examination.
  • A reassessment is scheduled to monitor the patient’s progress.

  • The attending physician records the findings in the digital file so that they are available at the next visit.
  • The patient leaves with clear information from the station doctor about what is happening and what to do next.
