EDiT — What it is
How many patients have no access to your specialty?
On islands and in remote mountainous areas, patients with chronic conditions,
in post-surgical recovery, or requiring specialist assessment have no local access
to a specialist physician — dermatologist, endocrinologist, neurologist,
psychiatrist, or other specialties.
With EDiT, this is now possible.
What is EDiT
The National Telemedicine Network is the national infrastructure connecting
National Health System hub hospitals with 372 Telemedicine Stations in remote and island areas
across the country. It is implemented by the Information Society S.A. with
funding from the Recovery and Resilience Facility — NextGenerationEU.
EDiT — How a telemedicine session works
How a telemedicine session works
Four steps. Your role is clear at each one.
01
The patient at the local station
The patient is at the Patient Station — a health centre or local clinic in their area.
02
Request for a specialist
The attending physician requests a connection with a specialist consultant through the EDiT network for a joint assessment and medical advice.
03
You join the session
From the Telemedicine Station at your hospital, you participate in the examination in real time.
04
Your recommendation
It is recorded and forms the basis of the attending physician’s treatment decision.
What you gain as an EDIT physician
Participation is voluntary. The benefits are concrete.
Recognition and access rights to EDiT Stations
Your telemedicine competence is formally recognized — a skill that strengthens your professional profile. You also receive a dedicated access card for EDiT Telemedicine Stations.
Broader range of cases
You examine patients from remote areas who have no access to your specialty.
Flexible participation
Tele-appointments are scheduled around your own timetable. There is no mandatory workload. You participate as much and as often as you choose.
Clinical documentation tools
Access to digital documentation tools that support your clinical work.
